The Unbinding presents a world made up of fragments of found material. Conceived in the form of an installation, this stereoscopic video work reveals a female figure who has withdrawn into the world of images and calculations, seeking solitude there. She builds her own self-generated world from the inside out, her face, hands and hair changing with her every move, never leaving what is a cycle of constant reconfiguration.

Inspired by cubist portraiture, surrealist collages, Philip K. Dick’s “scramble suit,” and time ties or time machines, this work offers an allegory of our everyday activities of appropriation and sampling. It raises the question of how we build our own worlds through different means.
